How can I restore a MusicMaster database?

Answer

There are several ways to restore a MusicMaster database. The prerequisite for this is that the corresponding variant is activated or that a backup has been made.

Variant 1: Restore a MusicMaster backup

Prerequisite:

A current or desired backup is available, which can be restored by means of a Backup made in the MusicMaster with "Backup".

Step-by-step instructions

1. Backup current data externally (without overwriting the current backup).
2. Open affected database in MusicMaster
3. Select Restore Backup via Extras
4. Select Restore

Variant 2: Restore from a .bak file

Prerequisite:

A purge has been made and the automatic backup from the last purge is present.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Close MusicMaster
2. Backup current data externally (using .zip without overwriting the current backup)
3. Localize current MusicMaster database e.g. Sample.mmd.
4. Rename Sample.mmd  to Sample.old.
5. Rename Sample.bak to Sample.mmd.
6. Open MusicMaster and open the sample database

Variant 3: Restore through a Windows data backup.

Prerequisite:

A Windows backup has been made or shadow copies have been enabled.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Back up MusicMaster database and close MusicMaster
2. Restore the database using instructions according to Microsoft.

Variant 4:  Restore with own backup

Prerequisite:

There is an active own backup available such as Veritasbackup or Veeam etc.

1. Back up MusicMaster database and close MusicMaster
2. Restore according to manufacturer's instructions
